The Machado Groove Fin Set is a throwback to Rob's performance days, and is a five fin template for high-performance surfing. This fin set is lively and responsive in punchy, hollow waves from around waist-high to overhead. The construction's progression flex provides spring and liveliness out of every turn, while maintaining the immediate response and drive required for high-performance surfing.
While this is an Upright (pivot) template, it still has Rob's hybrid DNA with a lengthened base. Rob took special care with this fin's construction, wanting to create a technically progressive flex throughout the template. Because of the various carbon layups in combination with the bamboo core, the leading edge is stiffer while the trailing edge has more flex. This construction's progressive flex provides spring and liveliness out of every turn, while maintaining the immediate response and drive required for high-performance surfing.
Please check the product title and specifications — Firewire and Slater Designs fins are available in FCS, FCS II, and Futures configurations. Make sure your board's fin boxes match the fin system.
Insert the fin tab into the fin box and tighten the set screw finger-tight. Use the fin key provided or a standard fin key. Do not overtighten, as this can damage the fin box.
These fins are designed for performance surfing across a range of conditions. Larger fin templates provide more drive and hold in bigger, more powerful waves, while smaller templates offer increased speed and release in smaller surf.
Rinse fins with fresh water after each session. Store in a protective fin sock or case to avoid scratching. Inspect fins for cracks or chips before each session. Do not overtighten fin screws — finger-tight is sufficient.
